The JungChemikerForum (JCF) is the youth organization representing all students and young professionals within the German Chemical Society (GDCh). The GDCh itself is the largest network of chemists in germany, which acts as a lobby group for its members and supports them in their individual career. Being divided into 54 regional groups, the JCF is present at almost every university in germany and regularly hosts lectures, career services, social events, excursions and conferences, both regional and nationwide. You may get a further impression of the JCF by watching the attached image video.
Including the access to the largests network of chemists in germany, the GDCh is granting manifold benefits to its members. Young professionals are supported by over 1000 individual training sessions every year and by the GDCh career service, which facilitates the job entrace as well as promoting one's later career. In addition, GDCh members get an automatic subscription to the chemistry newspaper "Nachrichten aus der Chemie" and are offered discounts on top-class scientific journals. Many national societies with close relation to chemical industry, like the VAA, provide discounts on double memberships. Finally, there are price advantages for GDCh members at many national and international conferences (including this one) and the GDCh awards over 1000 travel scholarships for these every year.
The JCF regional groups depend on the voluntary commitment of its members! Once you have become a GDCh member, you are warmly invited to participate not only in the many events hosted by the JCF, but also to become a part of the organization team. Most regional groups offer regular meetings and you may find your regional group here.
